Hope Macaulay is a contemporary luxury fashion brand founded by textile designer Hope Macaulay on the North Coast of Northern Ireland.

Since launching in 2018, the brand has grown from a one-woman studio into a family-run business, working with a network of skilled knitters across Northern Ireland. Each piece reflects a balance of creativity, craftsmanship and a slower, more considered way of making.

Our signature chunky knitwear is handmade in Northern Ireland by our team of local knitters, working from home. Each piece is hand-processed to achieve its distinctive thickness, then entirely hand-knitted without needles - using only skilled hands.

The result is a sculptural, tactile knit that feels as special as it looks. Crafted from unspun wool for exceptional softness and texture, each piece is delicate by nature and requires gentle care, like all artisanal knitwear.

Some pieces are created in limited quantities, while others are made to order in small runs, helping to reduce waste and ensure each garment is made with care.

The soft, unspun nature of our yarns - particularly in our sculptural, chunky styles - combined with our signature hand-knitting technique without needles, creates a cloud-like, tactile texture. This unique construction gives our knits their signature softness and sculptural form.

Gentle pilling and shedding may occur naturally over time, particularly in areas of friction. This is a natural characteristic of the fibre. With the right care, your knit will continue to look beautiful for years to come.

Our knitwear is made using high-quality natural fibres that require minimal washing.

We recommend:

• Spot cleaning where possible
• Professional dry cleaning when needed
• Avoiding machine washing

To spot clean:

• Gently dampen a cloth with cold or lukewarm water
• Pat the area softly (do not rub)
• Remove excess water carefully
• Lay flat to air dry

A gentle shake between wears helps keep your knit fresh.

To preserve the shape and quality of your piece:

• Store folded rather than hanging
• Keep in a breathable cotton storage bag
• Avoid long-term hanging to prevent stretching
