In Hope Macaulay’s new Spring/Summer 2020 collection “Distorted Wonderland”, Hope continues her exploration of the surreal and hallucinatory, inspired this time by the imagery conjured up by Alice in Wonderland. Hope’s fascination began as a child when she appeared in a children’s ballet production based on the classic book by Lewis Carrol.
Hope Macaulay Spring/Summer 2020 prints are striking and dramatic with hand drawn and embellished butterflies, extra-terrestrial florals and large painted brush strokes. These distorted fairytale imagery can be found on a silky co-ord, recycled pink suit and summer dresses featuring puff sleeves, a corset bodice and large bows. Couture meets street style when a long surreal pleated skirt is matched with an embellished butterfly t-shirt, a distinctive look with an added pop of bright chunky knitwear.
The collection includes 100% recycled woven fabric, 100% silk, 100% organic cotton and duchess satin. Hope’s signature eye-catching chunky knitwear, has been redesigned for cool summer evenings, featuring a slouchy oversized fit with large balloon sleeves; handmade from a selection of handpicked colourful 100% merino wool. Printed accessories have been created to match with the garments, such as bags, scarves, belts and jewellery which feature rhinestone embellishments, logo printed faux leather and real keshi pearl.
